Hello Folks, Babs here!
After 5 years of incredibly hard work, my mind & body say it’s time for me to stop. I’d like to pass on EYG to some folks who share the same drive to create beautiful plant based food and add their own creativity & energy into it, as I think it’s got a lot of potential to grow into something even brighter & more energetic for the community.
♥️
I set up EYG in 2018 with just enough (borrowed) money to buy the lease. I decorated the cafe with plants & ornaments from my house! My driving vision was to run a cafe for the community, serving high quality, ethical plant-based food for a reasonable price; pay staff a decent wage, and to personally have creative licence to work with beautiful, seasonal ingredients, creating delicious food for you all. It has always been vitally important to me that EYG be an LGBTQIA+ safe space too. I’m so proud of my little business – and so happy to have you all as customers! You’re the best.
♥️
I have cooked thousands of meals in the EYG kitchen, working day & night with the relentless energy of a Duracell bunny. I started out with only a domestic 2 shelf oven & 4 small induction hobs. I still have a domestic oven. It’s amazing what you can achieve if you put your heart and mind to it.
♥️
We have won awards, survived a pandemic, built wonderful relationships with suppliers & customers; I’ve met so many incredible people with shared ethics & ideas – and for all of this I am eternally grateful.
