After an amazing weekend of being back in the swing of things (thank you to everyone who came to support us on our re-opening, whether that was for dine-in, takeaway or even simply in spirit!) we are all looking forward to this weekend. Friday nights dine-in is now a supper club, with a set menu of 4 or 5 courses. This weeks’ is full, but do get in contact if you would like to attend the next one or for more details and a sample menu.
Date Night Boxes continue for Friday collections, as will the Sunday roast. Just email email@example.com to book your collection, as usual. More details below 🙂
Our daytime menu is available for collection on FRIDAY and SATURDAY – again just email me with a time between 10am-2.30pm that you would like to collect.
DATE NIGHT BOXES / COLLECTION ONLY
SUNDAY ROAST / COLLECTION (£12) and DINE IN (£13) / 12:30 – 6pm
You can now enjoy a roast at the cafe again! Just email to book in. Alternatively collections are still available throughout the day 🙂 email firstname.lastname@example.org to book.
Right, I’m off to walk the dog. Have a good week champions! Babs x
It’s been a very busy week as we are opening tomorrow and have had a lot to prepare, so apologies for my extremely late mailout. Friday Date Night Box and Sunday Roast collections are running alongside dine-in, so if you aren’t able to come down to EYG to eat, you can always still collect 🙂
In addition, burgers and other menu items are available for collection during the day, and Friday nights. I’m currently working on a way to make the website more easily navigated, so bear with me!
I hope that this email finds you well – albeit a little later than usual. Myself, Milly and Elena have been working hard to get the cafe shiny and ready for re-opening next weekend – how exciting! Social distancing measures will be in place, such as:
Everyone’s temperature will be taken as they enter the cafe
Screens will separate the tables inside
Wearing masks upon entry is compulsory (until you are seated)
Seating will be supplied outside also
Compulsory table service
There will be hand sanitiser on all the tables (supplied by our friends at local zero-waste shop Bloop!)
-as well as many other precautions to ensure the safety of your fine selves, and the staff.
Myself, Elena and Milly are gearing up for reopening in August – it looks like (depending on the building / plumbing works) that will be *Friday 7th August*. More to follow on specifics, however dining in will be strictly by reservation only, so we can all socially distance successfully indoors. Outdoor seating under a gazebo will also be happening. I have also just hired a new team member to join our little EYG family, which is very exciting!
So, now to food collections for this week 🙂 I’m in scotland until friday evening, so Date Night will only be on saturday this week. Roast as usual. Take care, and see you soon – Babs x
I’m sending this today as it was my birthday yesterday, and i didn’t want to spend the day working, haha!
Due to some plumbing and building works over the next week/ 10 days I won’t be doing any food this weekend (I will the following saturday and sunday though), so apologies about that! It’s unavoidable work that has to be done to ensure Sumear can move into the basement space and start up his new cheese cave. I’m also ‘refreshing’ front of house and myself, Elena & Milly are interviewing this week for a new staff member – it’s all veryyyy busy indeed. I’m also taking 5 days to get a bit of a ‘holiday’ in before we reopen in august, which will handily be during the time when the building work is happening downstairs.
I hope you had good weekends, respectively. This week on the friday/ saturday collection front, I’m rolling again with the deep fried, stuffed courgette flowers, they were a real hit last weekend 🙂 There’s also satay Tempeh, using the marvellous Tempeh Meades product – truly the best tempeh I have ever tasted.
Sunday roast is (as always) on again too.
I’ll keep it short and sweet this week – take care all,
I thought I’d start this by talking about when EYG could open again. I do not feel that it is a clever idea, on any count, to open on July 4th. Yesterday was a very busy day, and included a lengthy staff meeting. I have decided we will be reopening in August, following whatever guidelines are in place then, and running a reduced service as we all (and the economy!) try to navigate through this sensibly and with due consideration.
Until then I will continue to offer evening meals, sunday roasts, cake orders, occasional brunches etc, and hope that’s going to be enough to get us through the next month.
The details of this weeks’ meals are below – do get in touch if you have any allergies or other requests. Oh, and keep an eye on social media as I’ll be running a little competition to win a cake!
Phwooar, did I do a lot of lifting last week. The basement is nearly done, and I’m very happy to tell you that Date Night Boxes are back this week with renewed vigour.
I went to Barley Wood Walled Garden today (some of you may know, I try to get as much veg from here as possible, it’s just astonishingly good!) and this week’s boxes are jam-packed with delicious organic, locally grown goodness. I’m especially excited about the whole roasted sweet onions, and carrots… oh boy, the taste is so exquisite.
Sunday roast is also on this week too, of course 🙂
Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy this week’s selection, and see some of you at the weekend!
I’ve only gone and put my laptop somewhere silly – so this post comes to you awkwardly typed from my phone.
This week the basement clear out is taking precedence as I prepare for Sumear (of Food by Sumear) to move his cheese business downstairs! I will therefore be running a reduced collection menu this week (it’s quite messy and I don’t want to have any issues with food hygiene), so only offering the Sunday Roast.
However! Pitchfork Cafe are doing a collection pop-up of their fantastic food at EYG, available on Friday 19th June. Booking and tickets are to be purchased through their Facebook event and tickets are sold through Eventbrite. I do not have anything to do with these collection times as it’s a pop up, so please don’t email me about it as I won’t be able to help you!
Friday 19th June – Pitchfork Cafe POP UP! The lovely folks at pitchfork are offering a seasonal menu for collection, please look on their Facebook event and tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite 😊
SUNDAY 21st JUNE / SUNDAY ROAST / £12 / Collections 12-2pm & 4-6pm Roast potatoes, cranberry & quinoa seed-roast, squash wedges with crispy sage, braised red cabbage, seasonal greens, maple glazed carrots*, with a beetroot & red onion gravy. *depending on availability there’s usually some roast beetroot or swede in here too 🙂 BROWNIES: Brownies are available every sunday now too! Just include how many you would like with your order (they’re £3.75 each) _____________________________________________________________________________
To book in for collection, email email@example.com – state a relevant subject line and a rough time you’d like to collect!
DO NOT reply to this mailout as its a donotreply address and I won’t get your order 🙁
Things will be back to normal next week with exciting Date Night Boxes and other treats 🙂 Stay well, and here’s a cat, chewing my hair:
This mailout is a day late – you aren’t imagining it! Yesterday was pretty bonkers busy… Odd to think that days can still be so hectic in this time of social distancing; however as I’m sure some of you know, when you run a business there’s never really any ‘off’ switch’!
Anyway, enough waffling from me, info on this weeks’ meals:
This Friday AND Saturday I will be doing Date Night Boxes, due to the overwhelming (in a lovely way!) requests for them over the past few weeks. A couple of people have expressed that they are wanting to buy for 1 or 3 people, and if that’s the case, please do email and we can sort something out. I can’t do that for every order though, as it will throw my quantities and costings out (to be transparent, which i like to be).
Yesterday we also rehomed Perla, which was emotional for us, but predominantly quite disconcerting for Vanjie. She’s getting lots of love and still has the floofball Ryan to fuss over so it’s not all bad, but she’s definitely confused. Today’s cat photo is actually my big bomper of a ginger tom, called Business Kitty… because he’s absolutely RIDICULOUS:
